Review by hotel critic
During my recent visit to Raga On the Ganges in Rishikesh, I was drawn in by the stunning views and potential charm of a luxury wellness resort. The scenic location by the River Ganga indeed lived up to its promise, providing a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation and rejuvenation. I found the overall experience somewhat lacking, particularly given the premium price point. While the spacious cottage we stayed in was well-appointed and offered breathtaking views, it was disappointing to encounter issues with housekeeping and room maintenance-such as an unresponsive bathroom lock and intermittent plumbing problems. These shortcomings fell short of the standard one would expect from a resort marketed as a four-star luxury destination. The resort's dining experience at Sargam Restaurant was pleasant, with delightful offerings across Indian and Continental cuisines. Communication around service changes, like the cancellation of the buffet, could use improvement who seek a seamless dining experience-especially after long days of exploring this beautiful region with family. Despite these issues, the setting was undeniably captivating, and I appreciated the wellness activities available, such as yoga on the outdoor deck, amid the serene surroundings. As someone who thrives on luxury island getaways, Raga On the Ganges felt like an opportunity missed, especially considering it was intended to be a highlight of our city trip. With some adjustments in service and maintenance, this resort could truly shine as a premier destination.
